Cancunmermaidīs Snorkeling Express
The
second largest reef in the world starts a little bit north of Cancun and stretches down to Honduras in Central America. In Puerto Morelos,
(23 miles south of Cancun) this reef hugs the coastline for 9 miles. The
closeness of the reef to the shore (about 500 yards) is a natural barrier for the village. It also keeps the waters calm on the inside of the reef. The depth of the water is shallow, between 5 to 30 feet, which makes
conditions ideal for snorkeling. All the photos shown on this page were
taken at the reef in Puerto Morelos. This area of the reef has remainded
unspoiled due to the environmental regulations the small village has immplemented. Only a selectd amount of people are allowed to snorkel the reef. I have been snorkeling all around Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and
the Riviera Maya since my arrival here in 1993. I can guarantee you
absolutely the best and most beautiful reef and sealife is in Puerto
Morelos. Itīs perfect for first timers or advanced snorkelers. We often times just do drift snorkels, having the boat drop us off and just follow
us along, allowing everyone to see as much of the reef as possible. We
take you to two different areas of the reef, spending about 1 hour in each area. We require a minimum of 4 people or a maximum of 20 people on this Tour. The price is $ 50 U.S. for adults & $ 35 U.S. for children. Includes: boat, snorkeling gear, life jackets, a light lunch, bottled water, sodas & beer. If staying in Cancun we also
include round-trip
transportation to and from Puerto Morelos. If staying in the Riviera Maya,
we can help you arrange transportation.
